Vesper does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data. Everything stays on your device.
What Vesper does
Vesper is a browser extension that applies a dark theme to every website you visit. It works entirely on your device, with no account required, no data sent to our servers.
Permissions we request and why
- Access to all websites: required to apply the dark theme to every page you visit. We read page content only to style it; we do not log, store, or transmit any of it.
- Storage: saves your preferences (color mode, brightness, per-site settings) locally in your browser. This data never leaves your device.
- Font settings: reads your system font preferences so Vesper can render text consistently across sites.
- Alarms: enables the optional automatic on/off schedule (e.g. dark mode only at night). Triggered locally; no network calls.
- Scripting: injects the dark-mode stylesheet into pages. Standard for any theme extension.
- Context menus (optional): adds a right-click shortcut to toggle Vesper on the current site. Requested only if you enable it.
Data we collect
None. Vesper does not collect browsing history, URLs, page content, personal information, or any usage telemetry. There are no analytics, crash reporters, or tracking SDKs in the extension.
Data storage
Your settings (color mode, brightness, contrast, sepia, per-site overrides, schedule) are stored locally using the browser's built-in storage API. This data is only accessible to Vesper within your browser and is never transmitted anywhere.
Third-party services
Vesper Pro licenses are managed by Lemon Squeezy. If you purchase a Pro license, your payment and email are handled directly by Lemon Squeezy under their own privacy policy. Vesper itself receives only a license key to validate your subscription; we do not receive your payment details.
Children's privacy
Vesper does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we ever update this policy, we will update the "last updated" date above. Because we collect no data, changes are unlikely to affect your privacy in any meaningful way.
